Tag applications

You can create and apply tags to applications. Tagging allows you to add additional information to assist with managing applications, particularly through different stages of review. Tagging is often used in programs that have multiple stages of reviewing (e.g. qualifying, shortlisting, grantee selection).

Note: tags may contain sensitive information and are not visible to reviewers or applicants by default.

How do I tag an application?

Tagging an application can be done in two ways:

Individually:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Applications or Reviewing > Leaderboard
  2. Click on an application
  3. Under Application tags, begin typing your desired tag
  4. Hit the Return/Enter key on your keyboard to apply the tag
Tip: previously created tags will appear as you begin typing.
Create or search for an existing tag

In bulk:

  1. From the Manage workspace, navigate to Applications
  2. Select the checkbox to the left of each application you want to tag
  3. Within the Action dropdown box, click Tag
    Tag from Action drop-down
  4. Type in anything you want (single or multiple words) in the tag input field
  5. Previously created tags appear in a list as you type
  6. Click Tag to create/apply the tag to all applications you selected

Tag from reviewing view

Grant manager's may participate in an initial stage of reviewing where tagging could come in handy. Users with the grant manager role can add a tag from the bottom of an application when reviewing.

Tip: with the addition of the Tags Create and View permissions, additional user roles may tag applications in the reviewing view and apply their own tags. For more information on roles and their permissions, see our guide: Ultimate guide to user roles.

How to remove tags

There are a few different ways to remove tags from applications.

Remove from an individual application:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Applications
  2. Click the application from which to remove the tag
  3. Click on the X next to the tag you want to remove
Remove tag by clicking the X

Remove from the application preview:

  1. Click the overflow menu (3 dots) next to the application to select Preview
  2. Click on the X next to the tag you want to remove
Note: there is no Save button, simply clicking the X icon will save it immediately.

Remove from all applications by deleting the tag:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > General > Tags
  2. Select the checkbox next to the tag you want to remove
  3. Click Delete
Note: deleting will remove the tag from all applications it had been applied to. Please ensure you select the correct tag as you cannot retrieve this information.

Search for all applications with the tag:

  1. From the Manage workspace, navigate to Applications
  2. Click Advanced within the search box
  3. Within the Tags dropdown, select the tag you would like to search by
  4. Click Search
  5. Open each application and click the X icon next to the tag you want to remove

Panel configuration using tags

When setting up a review panel, if you have used tags on applications, a list of all available tags will be presented for you to choose from. If you select one or more of the tags listed, only submitted applications with those tags applied will show to reviewers on this panel.

Tagging allocations

Once an application has been allocated funds, an allocation tag can be applied. For more information on allocations, fund management, and payment tracking, see these dedicated guides:

Note: tags added to applications via Grants > Applications will dispaly alongside the allocation in the manager's view of the application, not the application tags.
