What are tags?
Tags in Good Grants act as internal labels you can apply to applications to help manage and organise your program. They are especially useful for multi-stage programs—for example qualifying, shortlisting, finalist selection, and winner selection.
Tags can also streamline reviewing panel configuration by helping you control which applications appear to which reviewers.
Tag an application
Individually
- In the Manage workspace, go to Applications or Reviewing > Leaderboard
- Click an application name
- Under 'Application tags', type your tag into the field
- Select a previously used tag or press Return/Enter to create a new one
In bulk
- In the Manage workspace, go to Applications or Reviewing > Leaderboard
- Select the checkbox next to each application
- Open the Action drop-down and choose Tag
- Type your tag, select an existing one, or create a new one
- Click Tag to apply it to all selected entries
Tagging in the reviewing view
Grant managers assigned to reviewing can add tags directly from the bottom of an application while reviewing. With the Tags Create and View permissions, other roles can also create and apply tags. Learn more about permissions in our Ultimate guide to user roles.
Remove a tag
From an individual application
- In the Manage workspace, go to Applications
- Click the application name
- Click the X next to the tag you want to remove
From all applications
- In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > General > Tags
- Select the checkbox next to the tag
- Click Delete
Deleting a tag removes it permanently and cannot be undone.
Using tags in panels
When creating a reviewing panel, Good Grants displays all available tags. Select one or more tags to restrict the panel to applications that have the selected tags applied.

Good to know
- Tags are not visible to applicants or reviewers as they may contain sensitive information.
- If you want reviewers to see tags, see: How can I allow reviewers to see tags?
- Tags work well with multi-stage reviewing and automated tagging.
