Ultimate guide to user passwords

Reset your password (for users)

If you're having trouble signing in to Good Grants, resetting your password only takes a few simple steps.

  1. Enter your email address or mobile number on your program’s login page
  2. Click Forgot password on the next page
  3. Follow the prompts and click Send

You’ll see a confirmation message when your request is submitted. Within minutes, a one-click login link will arrive in your email inbox.

This link:

  • Expires after 2 hours
  • Can only be used once

If the message hasn’t arrived after a few minutes, see the troubleshooting section below.

Why haven't I received my 'Forgot password' email?

If your password reset link has not arrived, the most common causes are:

  • A spelling mistake in the email address or an incorrect mobile number
  • The message has landed in your junk or spam folder
  • A firewall or spam filter has blocked the email

If the information entered is correct and the message is not in junk/spam, please contact our client success team—we’re happy to help.

Assign a new password

After you access your account:

  1. Click your name in the top-right corner

  2. Select Profile

  3. Click Change password

  4. Enter your current and new password

  5. Click Save

Your password does not automatically change when you click Forgot password on the login page. The link simply logs you in. If you do not assign a new password, your existing password remains active.

For managers:

Can I update user passwords?

Yes. Grant managers can update a user’s password provided the user's email address or mobile number is not already associated with another Good Grants account. For more information, see: User memberships: users registered in multiple accounts

To update a user's password:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Users
  2. Click the user's name
  3. Input a new 12-character password
  4. Save

For security, we recommend sending users a password-set link rather than setting passwords yourself. See the next section for instructions.

Can I send users a password link?

Yes. You can send a password-set link using a broadcast.

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Users
  2. Search for the user(s)
  3. Click Broadcast
  4. Compose your message and include the {password_set_url} merge field
  5. Click Review + send

Use case: sending login links to reviewers

After importing your reviewers, you can send them a password-set link so they can log in for the first time.

If reviewing panels or assignments are configured

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Reviewing > Progress
  2. Choose the relevant score set
  3. Click Broadcast
  4. Include the {password_set_url} merge field and password instructions
  5. Click Review + send

If you have not configured reviewing panels or assignments:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Users
  2. Open Advanced search
  3. Set the Role filter to Reviewer
  4. Click Search
  5. Click Broadcast
  6. Include the {password_set_url} merge field and password instructions
  7. Click Review + send

Reviewers will receive a login link allowing them to access the platform and set their 12-character password (uppercase, lowercase, number, symbol).

Can I override the temporary authentication lock?

No. If a user attempts to log in multiple times using incorrect credentials, they may be temporarily locked out. This security measure cannot be overridden. The user should wait 30 minutes and try again.

Password link expiry:

Password link type Explanation Expiry
Forgot password User selects Forgot password on the login page 2 hours or 1 click
Reset password User clicks Reset password from My Good Grants 2 hours
Password set URL merge field Broadcast using the the {password_set_url} merge field 1 week
Invited user User is invited and creates their profile 1 year

Password length requirements

Good Grants requires passwords of at least 12 characters, including uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.

Accounts on the Enterprise plan can increase the minimum password length.

To update this setting:

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > General > Account
  2. Scroll to 'Security options'
  3. Enter a Minimum password length greater than 12
  4. Click Save
