User memberships: users registered in multiple accounts

Good Grants uses a single user database. This means a person only ever has one user account across all Good Grants programs.

If someone registers for one program, they can access any other Good Grants program using the same login details. There is no need to register again. Users are identified by a unique email address, mobile number, or both. They use the same email or mobile number and password to log in to every program they are connected to.

For more background, see Why have the same user login for multiple programs?

Common scenarios that may cause confusion

Scenario 1: reviewers logging in

  1. A grant manager manually creates a reviewer account
  2. The manager sets a password for the reviewer
  3. The reviewer attempts to log in
  4. The login fails because the email address or password does not match an existing Good Grants account

This usually happens because the reviewer already has a Good Grants account from another program.

Scenario 2: user registration

  1. A user visits a program URL
  2. They enter their email address
  3. They click Continue
  4. The user is prompted to enter a password

This occurs because the email address or mobile number is already registered in Good Grants.

Why this happens

In both scenarios, the user already exists in Good Grants. From their perspective, this can be confusing because:

  • They may not remember registering before
  • They may not know they are registered in another program
  • They may not recall their password

In these cases, the user does not need to register again. They simply need to log in.

Resetting a password

Users can reset their password at any time.

  1. Go to the program login page
  2. Enter the email address
  3. Select Forgot password
  4. Follow the prompts

Users can also change their password after logging in by clicking their name in the top right corner and selecting Profile.
