In Good Grants, grant managers can preview the platform as a specific user with lesser permissions, such as an applicant or a reviewer. This is particularly helpful when troubleshooting issues like users not seeing categories, applications, or actions they expect to have access to.
Previewing as a user allows you to navigate the platform exactly as that individual, rather than relying on a generic applicant or reviewer view.
Preview as a user
- In the Manage workspace, go to Users
- Locate the user you want to preview
- Click the ellipsis (three dots) next to the user
- Select Preview as user
You will now see the platform from that user’s perspective.
End previewing
When you’ve finished previewing, click Finish previewing at the top of the page. You’ll be returned to the original management view
Good to know
- Previewing is read-only; no edits can be made while in preview mode.
- Grant managers cannot submit or modify applications, sign confidentiality agreements, or enter scores while previewing.
- For making changes on behalf of an applicant, see: .Edit or submit an application on behalf of an applicant
- To test configuration changes, it’s best practice to use test applications or temporarily add yourself to panels rather than previewing, see: How do I test my application form? and How do I test my reviewing setup?
