Can I allow some applicants and not others into a program?

By default, Good Grants allows users to self-register and participate in any open program. However, some programs may need to limit who can create or submit applications. You can do this in three ways:

  • Limit registration by email domain
  • Deactivate registration and add users manually, by import, or by invitation
  • Use an eligibility screener to restrict who can complete an application

Limit registration by email domain

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > Users > Registration
  2. In the Registration only accepted from specific email domains field, enter one or more approved domains
  3. Add each domain on a new line
  4. Click Save

Only users whose email ends with one of the approved domains will be able to register.

Deactivate registration

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > Users > Registration
  2. Deselect Enable user registration
  3. Click Save

With registration disabled, only existing users can log in. To add new users, you can import them from a spreadsheet or invite them manually. For details, see the Adding new users article.

Configure an eligibility screener

If you want to allow anyone to register but restrict who can submit applications, you can use an eligibility screener. An eligibility screener checks whether applicants meet your criteria before allowing them to submit.

For full configuration instructions, see Configure an eligibility screener.

Good to know

  • Each allowed domain must be entered on its own line.
  • If you manually import users, they are not notified automatically. If you are on a Premium plan, you can use broadcast messages to notify imported users
  • An eligibility screener can be used to allow open registration while restricting who can complete an application
  • Users with an existing Good Grants account can still log in to your program if registration is deactivated.
