Ultimate guide for reviewers

The Good Grants platform is designed to make reviewing simple and efficient. The interface is intuitive and helps you evaluate your assigned applications quickly.

Due to the customisable nature of Good Grants, terminology and button labels may vary by program.
For example, applications may be labelled as entries or submissions.

Reviewing FAQ

How will I know if I have applications to evaluate?

Program organisers may notify you using broadcasts or notifications. Make sure these are enabled in the 'Preferences' tab of your user profile.

Learn more in Do I need broadcasts and notifications? Are they important?

Why can I only see 'My applications' when I log in? You may have logged in with a different email address. Contact your program's organisers if you are unsure which email to use.
How do I filter my assigned applications? If available, use the the 'Browse by category' filter or click Advanced in the search bar.
How do I know which applications need to be evaluated?

Applications needing action are marked:

  • 'To be scored' or 'In progress' in Scoring
  • With no decision in Qualifying reviewing

Select the application ID or name to begin evaluating.

What does the 'In progress' status mean?

'In progress' means evaluation has started but is not complete. This may be due to missing scores or required comments.

Once all requirements are met, the status changes to 'Complete'.

How do I leave a comment?

If enabled, you will see a comment box at the bottom of the application.

You can upload files to comments. Supported formats include common image, document, and spreadsheet types.

In Scoring, comments may also be enabled per scoring criterion.

Select Internal comment if the comment should never be visible to the applicant.

Do I need to click a save button in order for my scores and comments to save?  The system auto-saves every few seconds. Saving manually is recommended if your connection is unstable.
How can I print out my assigned applications? Select the PDF icon to download individual applications. If enabled, use Bulk download to receive a .zip file all assigned applications by email.
Can I score offline? You can download applications PDFs and mark them manually. Scores must still be entered into the platform to be counted.
I've finished my assignments, what do I do now?  Once you've completed all of your reviewing assignments, you're all set! There's no need to submit anything further as your scores and comments have already been saved.
