Good Grants provides a wide range of field types to help you collect exactly the information you need from applicants. Many field types include additional configuration options, such as file size limits or minimum and maximum word counts.
AI (beta)
The AI field type lets you ask natural-language questions about applications to automatically generate summaries, feedback, and insights.
Checkbox
A single checkbox field used to collect a true or false response.
Checkbox list
A list of checkboxes where more than one option can be selected. Enter each option on a separate line in the 'Options' area in configuration, in the order they should appear.
Content
A non-input field used to display text within the application form. Content fields support in-app text formatting and are commonly used for headings, instructions, or visual dividers.
Country
A drop-down field pre-filled with all recognised sovereign states. The list includes 249 countries as defined by ISO-3166-1.
Currency
Used to collect a numeric currency value. This field validates numeric input and supports most global currencies.
Date
A date picker field that ensures consistent date formatting. Dates can be selected from a calendar or typed manually using the expected format. An optional time zone selector can be enabled.
Date & time
A combined date and time picker field.
Drop-down list
A single-select drop-down field. Enter each option on a separate line in the 'Options' area in configuration, in the order they should appear.
Used to collect a single email address. The field validates that the input matches a recognised email format.
File upload (single)
Allows applicants to upload one file. You can configure maximum file size and accepted file types. Additional options are available for video and image files, including duration limits, thumbnails, and dimension constraints.
Formula
Automatically calculates a value based on other fields. This is commonly used with numeric or currency fields. Learn more in Utilising formula fields.
Numeric
Used to collect numeric input. The field validates numbers and supports spaces and common numeric symbols.
Phone number
Used to collect a single phone number. The field validates international phone number formats.
Radio buttons
A group of options where only one selection is allowed. Enter each option on a separate line in the 'Options' area of configuration.
Table
A configurable table field with custom rows and columns. Applicants can be allowed to add additional rows if required.
Text (single line)
A single-line text field. You can enforce minimum and maximum word or character limits. Learn more in How does Good Grants manage word counts?
Text area (multi-line)
A multi-line text field for longer responses. The field expands dynamically up to a fixed height, then adds a scroll bar. Word and character limits can be applied. Learn more in How does Good Grants manage word counts?
Time
A time picker field that ensures consistent time formatting. Times can be selected or typed manually using the expected format.
URL
Used to collect a single web address. The field validates that the input is a valid URL and opens links in a new window.
Good to know
- Option-based fields such as checkbox lists and drop-down lists support copy and paste. Paste option values before labels if the two differ.
- Formula fields are available on Premium plans and above.
- Text formatting for multi-line fields can be enabled or disabled in the form's settings.
- Drop-down value limits apply to option values, not labels.
- File upload fields support different validation rules depending on file type.
