Grant status

When managing a grant program it's useful to track the progress of grant projects after funding has been awarded. This can help grant managers track important metrics on how many grant projects are currently active, how much funding they've received, and whether they're on track to deliver on their goals. The grant status feature can help manage your organisation's grant progress in Good Grants.

Your account is equipped with three default grant statuses: 'Grant in progress', 'Fully allocated', and 'Closed'. These are fully customisable and can be edited to better fit your needs. If you need additional statuses, they can be created in just a few clicks.

Create a grant status

Creating a custom grant status is quick and easy! Simply follow the steps outlined below.

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Grants > Settings > Grant status
  2. Click New grant status
  3. Input a title and description for your grant status

  4. If desired, select one of the 'Advanced' options
    • Block from reviewing: prevent applications with this grant status from being shown to reviewers.
    • Display on leaderboard: allows applications with this grant status that have been hidden from reviewers to still display on the leaderboard.
    • Lock fund allocation: prevent further fund allocations from being made to the application in cases where the grant amount has already been fully paid.
    • Status label to display to applicants (optional): will display your desired grant status label to applicants. If no value is provided the status is hidden from applicants.
  5. Save

Apply grant status

A grant status can be applied to successful grant applications in the Manage workspace via Applications from the list view or in the grant manager's view of an application. Both methods are outlined below.

Important: applying a grant status will move the application from the Applications view to Grants > Manage in the Manage workspace. This allows you to keep the manage applications list focused on incoming applications only while grants in progress can be managed separately. Grants from the current season can also be viewed by opening the Current drop-down at the top of the page and selecting Grants.

FAQs

What is the primary use for this feature? Should my program utilise grant statuses?

Grant statuses allow managers to quickly see where successful grantees are in their funding journey. If your program monitors grant performance long-term or allocate funds over a period of time, grant statuses will allow you to manage the process. To learn more about grant funding see: Fund management overview.

Is there a limit on the number of statuses that can be created?

No! Your Good Grants account comes equipped with three statuses by default but additional status can be configured to meet your needs.

Where can I see which grants a user has been given?

The 'Grants' tab in a user's profile will display all of a user's grants. Grants are applications with a grant status applied.
