Good Grants provides various options to support video on applications— each have considerations you should be aware of.
Supported video platforms
The Good Grants platform supports the following video platforms:
- YouTube
- Vimeo
- Wistia
- TikTok
- Twitch
Embed video with a URL field
The URL field type accepts any correctly formatted URL. Additionally, if the URL is for a one of the platforms mentioned above, Good Grants embeds the target video within the applicant's application form and the reviewing view for all reviewing modes.
You might consider using this option if your applications are likely to have a video for their applications already hosted on one of these platforms and in the public domain.
Embed video to an attachments tab
By default, the attachments tab includes a button to Add link or video. With that button, applicants can attach any correctly formatted URL. If the URL is for a supported video platform, Good Grants embeds the target video in the reviewing view for all reviewing modes.
A thumbnail of the video is automatically displayed in the attachments gallery on reviewing views after transcoding has concluded. Videos over 60 seconds in length will have the option to choose a thumbnail image. For programs that don't collect image file attachments, this video thumbnail will be used in galleries and voting pages. Clicking on the thumbnail displays the embedded video in the gallery overlay.
To remove the Add link or video button:
- In the Manage workspace, go to Settings > Applications > Tabs
- Click your attachments tab
- Deselect the Accept links and externally hosted videos as attachments checkbox
- Save
Hosted streaming video
In many cases, applicants may need to include a video with their application that is not already hosted, or there may be rights limitations that prevent their video from being uploaded to a public service. In this case, with a Premium plan or higher, Good Grants supports video upload and streaming playback. Access to videos in this case is controlled by your account reviewing configuration.
- Videos can be uploaded via a file upload field type
- Videos can be uploaded as attachments on the applicants attachment tab
In either case, once a video is uploaded, it is automatically transcoded to a format suitable for streaming playback, and is then embedded in the applicant's application form, and the reviewing view for all reviewing modes.

FAQs
Can we input a time limit on videos?
You can! When configuring an attachment tab or a file upload (single) field, you have the ability to set a minimum and/or maximum video length in seconds.
Can applicants submit a video from social media?
Yes! Videos can be added via URL; see the Embed video with a URL field section above. Video playback is supported from a wide range of social media websites including TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch.
Is there a limit to the number of videos that can be submitted?
Good Grants doesn't restrict the number of videos that can be uploaded, but your program may set parameters if you wish.
Is there a maximum video size that can be submitted?
Accounts with a Intro subscription have a 10MB file size limit. Premium and Enterprise accounts have no file size restriction.
Can an applicant create a video in the platform?
No, videos must be created outside of Good Grants prior to upload.
