What is seasonal in Good Grants?

A common question is: what is seasonal and what is non-seasonal?

Understanding the difference is essential before creating a new season or making configuration changes.

What does seasonal mean?

Seasonal elements can be configured differently in each season. Updating a seasonal element in a new season does not affect archived seasons.

For example, if you update categories in the new season, archived seasons remain unchanged.

What does non-seasonal mean?

Non-seasonal elements exist at the account level. Changes made to non-seasonal elements apply across all seasons—active and archived.

For example, if you update the theme, it updates everywhere.

Non-seasonal elements

The following elements are non-seasonal. Changes to these will apply to all seasons.

Account and general settings

Location Seasonal status
Settings > General > Account Non-seasonal
Settings > General > Languages Non-seasonal
Settings > General > Document templates Non-seasonal
Settings > General > Theme Non-seasonal
Settings > Integrations >  API keys Non-seasonal

Content and display

Location Seasonal status
Settings > Content > Content blocks Non-seasonal
Settings > Content > Interface text Non-seasonal
Settings > Content > Terms Non-seasonal
Settings > Communications > Social Non-seasonal

If you create new content blocks instead of editing existing ones, you must manually select them in the relevant display area.

Users and roles

Location Seasonal status
Users Non-seasonal
Settings > Users > Registration Non-seasonal
Settings > Users > Roles Non-seasonal
Settings > Users > Fields Seasonal & non-seasonal

Users belong to the account, not a season. However, entries and judging data linked to users are seasonal. Permanently deleting a user removes them from all seasons.

Additional considerations

  • Roles
    • Creating or editing roles affects all seasons.
  • Theme
    • Theme changes, including logos and colour palette updates, apply across all seasons.

Good to know

  • Seasonal elements can vary between seasons. Non-seasonal elements apply across the entire account.
  • Changing the account URL disables the old one immediately.
  • Users belong to the account, not to a specific season. Permanently deleting a user removes them from all seasons.
