How does AI field pricing work?

What are the costs associated with AI fields?

The AI field type is included at no additional subscription cost. Usage is measured in AI tokens, which can be purchased in advance as a credit amount and are automatically deducted as you use the feature.

Each account begins with free credit (outlined below) to explore AI fields before committing to additional usage.

What is an 'input' token vs an 'output' token?

A token is a unit of text that an AI model reads and generates. Tokens are not the same as words. A token can be a whole word, part of a word, punctuation, a number or symbol, or even a blank space.

Input tokens are what the AI receives. For our AI fields, this would be the combination of the prompt and context; i.e. the instructions and full application, or the associated reviewing data.

Output tokens are what AI returns in response.

How much is 1 million tokens?

For English text, token usage is roughly:

  • 3/4 of a word
  • Therefore 1,000 tokens ~ 750 words
  • 1 million tokens ~750,000 words

Other languages, such as Chinese or Japanese, often use more tokens per sentence. Code can also be token-heavy due to symbols, spacing, and formatting.

What does this mean? With 1 million tokens, you could process an application of roughly 750,000 English words—nearly the size of Shakespeare's complete works—and ask our AI field to summarise it, highlight key points, or answer questions about it.
