Integrate with the Charity Commission for England and Wales

 


 

The Charity Commission regulates charities in England and Wales and maintains a charity register. Good Grants integrates with this register so you can verify charity numbers in real time while applicants complete the application form. If the number is valid, the integration returns information about the charity. If invalid, a message alerts the applicant.

Configure the integration

  1. In the Manage workspace, go to Forms
  2. Click the ellipsis (three dots) next to a form and choose Form settings
  3. Open the 'Advanced' tab
  4. Select Allow API updates to submission fields whilst a user is editing the submission 
  5. Click Save
  6. Go to Settings > Integrations > Marketplace 
  7. Click the Charity Commission for England and Wales
  8. In the popup, click the Configure
  9. (Optional) Customise the name of the integration in 'Initial Configuration' and click Next
  10. Read the 'How it works' tab and click Next
  11. In the 'Resources' tab, choose your form(s) from the Local Resources list
  12. Under 'External resource', choose the Charity Commission for England and Wales
  13. Click Next
  14. In 'Resource Mapping', click Add to Application Resource Map
  15. Select your Good Grants form and the Charity Commission for England and Wales from their respective drop-downs before clicking Next
  16. From the 'Field Mapping' tab, click Add to Field Map and pair your Good Grants fields (the Local field) with the Charity Commission register (the External field)
  17. Click Finish 
  18. Go to Settings > Integrations > Webhooks and open the Marketplace webhook
  19. Select your application form from the Resource dropdown and the charity number field you selected in the field mapping in the previous step
  20. Click Save

Good to know

  • Fields marked above with an asterisk (*) are arrays and are best mapped with the text area (multi-line) field type.
  • If information from the Charity Commission does not need to be visible to applicants, the Good Grants fields can be marked as read only or hidden entirely.
