Why can't reviewers see / score applications?
After you've completed your reviewing configuration and assigned applications to reviewers, you may hear that a reviewer isn't able to see or score applications. If this happens, there are a few items that you should check:
Reviewing round configuration
Ensure that the reviewing round is open by navigating to Reviewing > Settings > Rounds in the Manage workspace. If the start date and/or time is in the future, reviewers will not be able to see or evaluate applications until that date/time. Take note of the timezone setting as well.
Panel setup
Check that the reviewer has been added to the proper panel and that the panel includes applications. This can be viewed in the Manage workspace via Reviewing > Settings > Panels.
If you see 0 (zero applications) then a setting has been missed in your panel settings or there are no submitted applications. Open the panel and make sure one or more reviewers are selected, the round is selected, and also one or more categories and chapters are selected. If any of these elements have not been selected your reviewers will not see anything.
If applications have been assigned manually, check Reviewing > Settings > Assignments in the Manage workspace to make sure you have assigned them to the right reviewers.
Submitted applications
Check for submitted applications in the category the reviewer is reviewing.
- From the Manage workspace, go to Applications
- Click the Advanced button at the top right
- Filter for the desired category and for Submitted application status
- Search
If there are no results, then there are no submitted applications in the category.
Aligned scoring criteria
If your program is utilising Scoring reviewing, you will need to configure criteria, the numerical devices that reviewers employ to score. Scoring criteria can be aligned to specific fields allowing reviewers to provide a score as it relates to a specific field.
If you opt to align scoring criteria with a field, be sure to check that the field is visible to your reviewers (in the 'Display' tab of the score set) and that it is applicable to the proper categories. If a field is not available in reviewing, the criteria aligned with it will not be either.
To learn more, see: Scoring criteria.
Reviewer email address
Check which email address the reviewer is using to sign in. Some users have multiple email addresses and accounts but the reviewer user role is only added to one. Make sure the account with the reviewer user role matches the account the reviewer has signed into.
Browser cache
If you have checked all of the above and applications are still not visible, then ask the reviewer to perform a hard refresh in their browser window. They might be viewing a cached page which a refresh can fix. The browser can be forced to refresh by holding down the shift key on the keyboard and clicking the refresh button in the browser. To force a full browser refresh, follow the instructions outlined here: Clearing your browser cache.
